This weekend, to celebrate a friend's birthday Jeff and I went along on a hot air ballooning adventure. Due to a mix up in the mandatory arrival time we were up at 2AM then killed time eating breakfast sandwiches and drinking mimosas between 2:30 and 4:30 before heading up to Sonoma in a packed minivan.
Fifty traffic free minutes later we got to the Sonoma and needed to kill more time at Starbucks before it was time to meet at the at the Sonoma county airport. At 6:30 we finally met up with the nice men at Up and Away ballooning who I can't recommend enough. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and were so confident I didn't feel worried or unsafe whatsoever. Excitement built as the balloons were blown up and in 20 minutes we were off. The ride took about an hour and provided the magnificent views you see below. The trip included a complimentary, delicious homemade brunch in the Kendall-Jackson winery garden afterward, it couldn't have been a better ending to the terrific experience.
This goes down as one of the most incredible mornings of my life.
