Shame vs. humility

Loyalty vs. blindly following dogma

Love vs. Obsession

Interest vs. Addiction

Need vs. Desire

Though I am not one to buy into the idea that there is a "straight and narrow  path" put before us that we must follow closely in order to achieve our best selves, I am realizing that we are always walking a fine line. Between too little and too much. Between contentment and desire. Between expressing who we are and living a life that does not reflect that person. The question is, how wide is the path, and how easy is it to get back on when we inevitably fall off?
